Hello,

I am a university student studying biomedical sciences. After reading alot about the Toppik fraud I decided to do some of my own research on the product. Here are my findings.

What is Toppik and how does it work?

Toppik is a hair loss concealer. It works by thickening each individual strand of hair in the thinning/balding area of the scalp, resulting in the appearance of a much thicker and fuller head of hair. It is a temporary solution for thin hair and not a cure.

The manufacturers claim that Toppik is a complex of microfibre "hairs" made of the same keratin protein as your own hair and that once applied it will stay in place all day and night, even in the strongest wind or hardest rain. This claim has not been proved or disapproved by me.

The following videos show the application of Toppik on two patients.

Is Toppik a fraud or a scam?

The answer to this question has to be a no. The following is a quote from the manufacturers website,

Quote:
Toppik fibers look natural and cannot be detected no matter how close you look. They'll never run, smear or stain, and are proven to withstand wind, rain, and even perspiration. They'll stay in place all day and night until you shampoo them out.

Toppik is totally compatible with hair growth drugs like Minoxidil and Propecia. It's great for both men and women. From the very first application, people will admire the difference your fuller head of hair makes. New acquaintances will never suspect that you ever had a hair loss problem. Toppik will change the way you feel about yourself every time you look in the mirror.

Toppik has not been advertised as a cure for hair loss or thinning hair. It is a temporary solution for thin hair which must be reapplied from day to day.

If you are looking to cure your hair loss or baldness, Toppik is not for you. Hair transplants provide the closest thing to a cure for baldness. There are other treatments which can promote new hair growth and reduce hair loss such as Minoxidil, Propecia and Laser treatment. Toppik is only a temporary cosmetic solution for thin hair.
