Has a switch from minox to finasteride worked?

Has anyone had any experience with switching from topical Monoxodil treatements of any type to Propecia (Finasteride).

That is, does a kick-start with the time-intensive minoxodil therapy increase the chances of making the more convenient Propecia work?
